timber school building The building depicted here was designed around BREEAM criteria and the requirements of the building users - the pupils and teachers. Large overhangs to cut glare, large windows for natural light and ventilation, high ceilings and a pleasant working space all helps create a positive learning environment.

The concept has been designed to offer flexibility; so that no school is stuck with a “best fit”, rather a solution which will work for them and their students. These features are all geared toward the same overall goals; which are to reduce disruption during construction, reduce maintenance and running costs once in use, and to do this with environmentally sensitive and responsible solutions.

The Eco-School concept is available as a turnkey solution with the following features;

1. Screwpile foundation – no need for heavy machinery or excavation.
2. 75mm laminated wall log using our MPL system with FSC/PEFC Certification
3. Monopitch roof which is ideal for Sedum or wildflower finish
4. Secure by Design FSC/PEFC Certified windows and doors
5. High insulation levels to reduce energy consumption and running costs
6. Full project specific M&E package with environmental focus

Little Acorns

This lovely nursery building was completed by Cabinco in summer of 2009. The owners of the building took many photographs as the construction process progressed and a sequence of these is available on You Tube so you can see both the speed and style of construction and how the main build was completed in just 23 Days!
